Dogs Available for Adoption

Percy

My name is Percy.
I am a Presa Canario/ Pit mix.
I am now 10 months old and weigh 55lbs.

I was taken in to an open access municipal animal control. I was pretty banged up. Luckily some volunteers at the shelter took the time to notice me. I was emaciated, and I had two large nasty burns on my hips, badly cropped ears with dried blood and fly bites all over. They looked past my appearance and saw me for the good doggie that I am.

I am very affectionate and I like to rest my head on your leg. I do like to lean on you if you would let me. I have a lot of puppy energy but I am learning to walk better on leash. I am wary of dogs that I encounter that I am not familiar with and require an experienced handler.

I respond well to hand signals and will look to you for instruction. I have been told that I am extremely high energy and I will need a family that can keep up with me. I am house broken and crate trained.
I also love kids, but my foster mommy thinks that I would do best in home with children over 5ft tall or 100lbs because my excitement will knock down little ones.

I would require a high fenced in yard if a yard is available.

An angel sent me to Making a Difference Rescue. Will you watch over me too?

Please remember we can not adopt out of state because a home visit is a requirement. We require an at home evaluation and screening prior to adoption. We do this to ensure that our animals will go to safe forever homes.

We ask that you please call and inquire whether we are able to travel to your area. Percy is located in Chicago. He is adoptable within a 30 mile radius.

If you are interested in providing Percy a forever home, please fill out our adoption survey

This will expedite your inquiry as we are not able to return phone calls or emails during our own non volunteer working hours.

Please welcome Shorty to Making A Difference Rescue!

Shorty is a 14 year young Black and Tan Pomeranian. He weighs in at 7lbs but his coat makes him appear twice that size in person.

He is extremely sweet and friendly. He walks well on leash, and is not 100% housebroken. He will go outdoors and on pads.
He is a spry little one and shows no sign of his age in his mannerisms.

Shorty is amazing with all the dogs that he has met and has ignored the cats that he encountered at the vets office. He is gentle with children, but is not a fan of being picked up. He will not go on furniture even if you allow him. He is not a cuddler in any way but shows his loyalty and affection by always being near you.

Shorty can be a talker. He will be the first to let you know when he needs to go outside, when it’s time to eat or if other dogs don’t move when he wants to be near you. He can be a real beggar for table scraps and his energy and excitement will fool you as he does not act his age.
He will also be the first to greet you at the door or let you know that there are visitors.

We ask that you please email and inquire whether we are able to travel to your area.

Max is in need of foster or forever home.

This is Max. He may be the most silly and affectionate dog that we’ve ever met.

He’s a petite little guy. He weighs 45 lbs. and is around 2-3 years old.

If you’re a gardener, you can be sure that your yard will never be infested with feral cats, squirrels or rabbits. He loves to play in the mud…but never fear, he’s figured out how to jump into the tub on his own free will to have his feet and muzzle cleaned.

If you have kids…he will easily fit in. He’s a great disciplinarian. He will teach your kids to pick up after themselves quickly if they cherish their balls, legos, socks and underwear. No mouthiness from this one…just too many slobbery kisses.

He loves to sleep in and insists on spooning you in bed. He’s mastered the art of playing dead and will not budge from his spot until you physically move him.

He is quite the charmer and fancies himself a lap dog. Just like a baby, he will wrap his arms around your neck and schnooze on your shoulder.

Max also loves to go running with his person and will keep up with speed and match strides for slow down periods. He does very well meeting strangers. He has no anxiety, noise or separation issues.

He’s very low maintenance. He’s house broken, neutered, HW negative and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. He must be crated for his safety when left at home.
He can not be in a home with cats or small rodents.

He has an extremely high prey drive and the ability to jump over low gates and fences. Unless his forever home is in a condo setting where he will be walked daily, he will require a home that has a 6ft high privacy fence and he can never be left outside unattended.

We have discovered that he will resource guard bricks and rocks. Although he can be easily distracted from these items through positive reinforcement, he will require a dog savvy person who is willing and able to work with this behavior. He can not have any meaty bones.

Max is located in Chicago. We ask that inquiries be within 30 miles of Chicago.
